Creepy Cutie

this somewhat resembles the face that Matt made when we were hanging out in my room (in the basement, with one small window) when there was a funky noise outside. It was a sqeaky, scratchy kind of sound, the exact sound you wouldn't want to hear on a dark, wet, foggy night like that night was. I already knew what the sound was, but I decided to play along.
"Matt! There's something at the window! Can you check and see what it is?!" "No way, that's wicked creepy!" "Please, Just trust me!"

It was my kitty, when she wants to come in she paws at the window, and the pads on her paws squeak. It was hilarious. This was after she came in, but whatever.

P.S. These are awesome pictures for a camera phone, btw, aren't they? 2.0mexapixel... not too shabby.

Parmesan

Mom: *labeling her chicken Parmesan* How do you spell Parmesan? Is it "parmesean?"

Me: I think it's "Parmasean" Hold on, lemme check.... *checks packaging* it's "Parmesan"

Mom: Haha, I win! I was only one letter off, you were two!

Me: Oh, no Mom, because you didn't even use Parmesan cheese, you used Romano!

Oh yes, I win.

Kitty Story!!

So once, many moons ago... Like years... I suffered from nightmares. I still do sometimes, but not quite as frequently. They were so frequent then that I taught myself how to wake up from dreams (I only failed once, and it totally freaked me out cause I thought my dream was real). Anyway, since then I have lost that ability but that's not the point. This is a prelude to a story:

I was fast asleep, and Tanya was sleeping at the foot of my bed. I started dreaming about Tanya, and in my dream she was falling off of a cliff, holding on by her two front paws! I kept trying to save her in the dream, but all she was doing was scratching up my arms and I couldn't pull her up... So I forced myself awake... I looked down by my feet and Tanya was clinging to the end of the bed by her front paws... As a result of my kicking.

Matt got a kick out of that story when I told him last week, and I thought you all might enjoy it as well!

Cute

"Missing someone isn't about how long it's been since you've seen them last or the amount of time since you last talked. It's about that very moment when you're doing something and you wish that they were right there with you." :)

Money Order

I had my first ever encounter with a money order today. I never knew such a thing existed!!

I bought my first Christmas present today. I better get crack-a-lackin', with my budget it may take me a while since I seem to have a hard time saving money that isn't for bills.

I love Christmastime.

Good Morning, Glory!

My Tiger Baby

Aww, look. It's my gorgeous kitty, Tiger, playing with a rubber golf ball outside... On a large, Blue patch of grass? What is he on anyway?

Hmm... A cat in the middle of the pool? What a sight!

Note: The pool cover is a perfect self-cat toy. Whenever he bats the ball away from him, it just rolls right back because he's the heaviest thing on the cover!

Haircuts

Now, I didn't get a picture of us together, or good pictures at all necessarily, but they're pictures of the day we got them done. Matt's was right after, mine was after I was wearing it all day.

Look carefully, and you will see that obviously Matt and I were supposed to be teenagers in the 50's :-P! My haircut is harder to see because the background is dark, but it's got the whole 50's flip thing going on, esp if I wear a thick headband!

Patience

I'm asking for patience from all of my South Berwickian buddies, as it is the busy season at work (Halloween at a Party Store) and I'm working most weekends. I also apologize for taking Matt away so often recently for the same reason mentioned above.

Remember, the end is near! I graduate in December and finding a job should (hopefully) be much easier. How people find jobs *cough* Amanda *cough* in accounting without a degree, I may never know.

*The Amanda mentioned above is Matt's sister Amanda. I felt the need to clarify because there are two Amanda's that read this blog that are in the accounting field, and I think the other Amanda has a degree, but I could be wrong.

Cool Letters

Story Time!!

So today I told Matt that I bet he liked having a "W" in his name, 'cause it's a cool letter. Apparently Matt doesn't think that "W" is a cool letter, but "R" is... So we traded. His name is now Matther and my name is now Lauwa!

re awe cool!

What to Do?!

Hey all,

Matt and Laura both here.

We're deciding what we should do today. We're going to get haircuts, once we get off our lazy butts and shower, but we also want to do something else. We could go bowling or geocaching... Or shopping, but we always go shopping and have already had a taste of that this weekend. Hmm... We've been pretty lazy thus far. We watched The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. We watched the first two last weekend, but skipped the third one if favor of "Amazing Wedding Cakes." "'Cause you're on crack," Matt just said to me. We also hung out with Chelly bean and watched Shrek the Third, and I think I've had enough TV for now! "Shrek Three Pwned," Matt again.
ta ta for now!

Etch a Sketch Thursday: Week 14

Hey all

So I don't have a picture, but I'm going to consider the cake made on Tuesday as todays Etch a Sketch :).

What happens is I have homework, but I don't want to do the homework, and I still have time before it's due, but I feel weird working on a picture when I know I should be working on homework.

Cake/ Etch a Sketch [Tuesday]: Week 14

So first I found the blog "Cake Wrecks." This blog led me to the Cakelava blog. From there I was inspired to watch "Amazing Wedding Cakes." Today I got the urge to make a cake. It definitely has it's quirks, and had it been a professional cake, you would have probably seen it on Cake Wrecks. Luckily, this was my first time making anything but a homemade looking cake, and it was my first time making and using fondant. I think it came out nicely for a first try. Yes, the fondant is a little lumpy (and lopsided), there is a tear in the fondant that one of the butterflies is mostly covering, and yeah. I have yet to taste it. I know it looks boringly white, but I forgot to add color to the butterflies before I cut them [blush]

The lopsided side.

Oh yeah, and the plate was a tad small.

Fortune

So Matt and I went out shopping today, and we ended our trip with a chinese buffet! I thought my fortune was pretty cool, but I'll post Matts as well.

Matt: "Sometimes travel to new places leads to great transformation." We thought this was funny because Matt has been talking about cruises to the Bahamas all day long.

Mine: "The time has come to allow your heart to guide you." I wanna frame it.

Etch a Sketch Thursday: Week 13

Okay. I did a little more on the painting, but got an itching to sketch a portrait midweek. Hence Bekah! Her hair is really messed up, but it's really hard 'cause it's curly, I guess? I dunno. I fail. Umm... Yeah, I forgot what I was going to say in this post. I'll be working some more on the painting, and maybe that's what you'll get next week, but maybe I will post a sketch again and just work a little on the painting. Painting really is a lot of work, especially since I often have to wait for the paint to dry, or it mixes all together! Frustrating!

I really had something else I was going to talk about, but I forgot. I have some upcoming plans that Matt doesn't know about, so I'll run them by Matt tonight and see what happens :).

Oh, I helped my dad and brother cut down a tree. Not really, they cut it down, I just helped move brush out of the way. Funny, it took 50 years to grow it and 5 hours to tear it down and apart. Still needs to be split though.

Mr. Prez

I like McCain. I like Palin.

But I can't STAND advertisements that put down the other candidate in order to promote themselves.

Stupid.
"The Special K Challenge: The difference between the size you wear, and the size you want"

I just thought that was a great line. Go Special K!

Matt Birthday Pictures

I told him to show off his button!

So for Matt's birthday I surprised him (and scared him half to death!) I made ice cream cake, and we had a lovely dinner of spaghetti and meatballs made by his mother for his birthday dinner! We then went to see Batman: The Dark Knight. I think Matt liked the day all in all.

In other news, I have successfully procrastinated on my laundry to the point where I have to complete 4 loads of just my laundry. That's a lot for one person, especially considering I create maybe 2 1/2 loads of laundry every 2 weeks.

In other other news, my computer is having major issues. Virus? Maybe. Nothing can find it. Scans won't work, or they won't work properly. I'm worried, especially since I have an online class this semester. :-\

Blogging

I felt the extreme need to blog, yet with nothing specific to blog about.

I have pictures from Matt's birthday, although I haven't uploaded them, due to sheer laziness.

I'm working on a sketch. I'm halfway through a painting, and a sketch, and plan on starting another sketch immediately after I finish the one I'm working on, and it's coming out beautifully!

My back has been hurting me for the past two days. Perhaps it's sleeping on a couch for 6/7 days in one week and 6+ hours in a car in the course of three days... But it's more of a sharp pain than an achey feeling so I'm suspecting I pulled something. Consequently, working (which requires a lot of bending and lifting) I've been using my legs more because my back hurts, and now my legs are sore!

Ooh kay... The Locator premieres tonight! I'm pretty excited. I've seen a couple commercials and it looks like it's going to be pretty cool.

Etch a Sketch Thursday: Week 12

Okay, so let me be brutally honest.

School has started. Work is picking up. I'm budgeting my time very strictly.

I'm trying very hard to do a picture a week, but I didn't realize how much time painting took until I did these last two pictures.

The eye didn't take so long mostly because it was a very small portion of a face and had very little detail, but I'm starting to paint faces now, and I'm going to switch to two weeks for paintings. If I do a sketch, I will do one a week (and I do plan on doing more pencil sketches) but If I do a painting, plan on me skipping a week, although I will still update on Thursday :)

OK:

So I'm about halfway done with a painting of Alyssa Milano. I've done her hair, which actually takes up half of the picture! It's coming out ok, and I really hope it has a good result, because this picture could determine how motivated I am to paint more portraits in the future, and I really want to be able to add color to my portraits (I'm also going to try colored pencil sometime in the future.)

Thanks for understanding!
And if you don't, well. Phooie. I'm tryin.

I'm expecting to be asked why ^this^ picture was put on here : P

I love you!

Deep Fried... Seahorse?!

I laughed, semi-seriously considered selling it on e-bay, then ate it (I was quite hungry.)

[10:53pm EDIT: Matt hadn't seen this lovely piece of meat until it was posted on the blog, as he was at band practice when I ate. Let's just say I have been reprimanded for NOT selling it on e-bay ;)]

Party Balloons!

Happy 50th Birthday Pastor Anthony!

So, alas, these are the only pictures I have of PA's 50th Birthday Party, my camera batteries died after this. Too bad I didn't remember the backup batteries I keep in my purse. It's great being prepared, when you remember you're prepared.
