Strawberries
So this weekend was the strawberry festival! My 1st. I got this rock with a turtle on it, I got a turtle painted on my face aaand I got an awesome hand blown glass frame!
Next week is the 4th of July, and I'm so excited because it will be the first time I see the fireworks with Matt. Which surprises me, because my manager gave me the perfect weekend schedule without me having to ask for it! I'm working July 4th morning, which means i get extra pay, but I get out at 2 so I have plenty of time to get to SB and see the fireworks with Matt. 2 Saturdays off in a row without asking! I hope he gives me the Saturday after that off, which I did ask for. The 7th is the day that marks Matt and I being 'a couple' for 2 years. Amanda Chalifour and I share the same birthday and the same anniversary!! How weird is that? Oh, and I also START classes on the 7th, and they END on my birthday! Those two days are special ;)! Sorry I'm sharing all your special days Amanda!
So even though I have class the night of the 7th, I think Matt and I will end up doing something in the morning. I have a feeling he's got something planned, but he wants to keep it a secret. Doesn't he know I'm never surprised?

Etch a Sketch Thursday: Week 2
This is the first picture this week. It's not what I was planning when I started out (I downsized a lot,) but I think it came out good (click picture to enlarge). It's not perfect, it varies quite a bit from it's mother picture, but it still looks like a rose!
I actually did two pictures this week, thanks to Karen! Just as I was finishing the first picture she started a picture and still wanted me to draw with her! I'm really happy with the way this came out, I'm only unhappy with the buttons on the phone. I actually used Paint Shop Pro to put the scanned image on top of the original to find out what was off, and it turns out the nose and lips are too high, the right (my right) lens of her glasses need to be higher, the right side of her cheek is too slim and the left is not slim enough. The hand's all off, but I already knew that.
I may post some in-progress pictures this week, depending on how much free time I have. Bekah's here!

17 in Mass
This really saddens me. There are 17 pregnant teenage girls in a town in MA. 8 or 9 are part of a "pact;" they all wanted to get pregnant. They're all 15, with the exception of one, who is 16. I'm only 18 now, but I couldn't imagine doing anything like that now, let alone then! I guess you could say I'm naive for my age, and even more then... But maybe if we all were a little more naive there wouldn't be 17 pregnant girls in a high school that offers day care.
You can read an article about it here.
P.S. Did I mention the homeless guy? Read the article to find out.

Daisies
Well, I must say my computer is being reaally slow... I think it may have a virus, but I have no idea what to do about it, I have anti-virus from UMA, but it's not finding anything. What could be making my computer this slow and glitchy?
OK, so this week I went to see Matt from Wednesday 'til Saturday, because otherwise I'd only see him for Sunday and half of Monday... He slept most of the time, and we didn't really do anything interesting. Karen and I spent a lot of time drawing. I've finished the rose, but for some reason I can't get my scanner to work. I'll get it to work by Thursday, I'm sure though. I've actually already started another picture, so if I get it done by Thursday I'll post 2!! I'd rather post too much than not enough.
Okay, so this was a filler blog, I'll admit, but I didn't want to post two sketch posts in a row with nothing in between!

Etch a Sketch Thursday: Week 1
Here is the first sketch I had mentioned a few day's ago. I'm hoping to draw one every week to help tone my "skill." It could definitely be better, but it could also be much worse. I'm not happy with the cheeks, hair, eyes, shoulder, lips, earring. . . I do like the nose though! I'm about halfway through my next picture, which is of a rose. I'm contemplating adding some daisies around it, depending on how late I get the rose itself done. Also, so that each picture is spaced out evenly, I'm going to try to post my weekly drawings on Thursday.

Sunburnt!!
Well, we all knew it was coming. The first sunburn of the year!! No pictures, it's really not fun to look at and I'm too lazy to take them. Matt got it pretty bad, and mine isn't all that mild either.
We went to Watercountry on Saturday (hence the Sunburn) as a going away sort of thing for a friend of Matt's at work. The tickets were $35, and since a season pass was only $60, we paid the extra $25 and are planning on making going to the waterpark a habit this summer! I was planning on a lot of beach trips, but now we've got options if we would rather be "chlorine-y" than "sandy!"
Also, Happy Fathers Day to all dads out there!
It was a really short trip this weekend due to Fathers day, we both wanted to be with our fathers (go figure,) so I'm going to make an extended mid-week trip from Wednesday-Saturday rather than making a trip this weekend. I think I'm going to be spending a lot of time in South Berwick this summer rather than Matt here because my Saturday classes are OVER!!! And the rest will start shortly... Monday nights in Portland, so going from SB to Portland will be gas-efficient. Something everyone is trying to be more of nowadays.

Art
As promised, here are a few pictures from my crazy outburst. I took like 50.
In other art news, I drew a picture. 1st in like 6 months. I've decided to try and draw a picture a week. Hopefully I'll be able to scan and post the pictures, whether they're good or not.
I'll post about the funerals once I get the pictures of Crystal and I.

Congrats, Grad!!
Life Gave Me Lemonade...
...And can't imagine why.
Through all the negative stuff that's happened this past week or so, and although I am still really sad about it, I can't help but feel that I have an amazing life. Even with my bad situations and all the stuff I complain about... I really have nothing to complain about. Right now, I'm content.
Still to come:
Meesh's Graduation (with pictures!)
My random photo outburst
2 funerals, 3 days; a dedication to Crystal and to Pastor Stevens
(I gotta leave for work now, but I'll make sure to post those within the next couple of days.)

Why We Blog?
Okay, so excuse the fact that it is blogging, and thus by definition needs no reason behind it, I'd like to think I write all this stuff down for a reason.
This blog is primarily about Matt and I, and the fact that we have a somewhat abnormal relationship: only seeing each other on the weekends. Living on the extremes of "none of each other" or "all the time of each other!"
I like to think we blog so that we can look back someday, and see what joys we had/have with each other, and how we have overcome what some would shy away from (a half-way long distance relationship.)
I guess what I'm saying is that this blog is not really about the now, but more about the future.
And yes, sometimes I will write about nonsense just because I really do enjoy writing these things up and being silly :)

Phil in the Circle
So, I've been following the work of this artist for a while now. Let me just say, the most intriguing part of his art is the way he does it, which is never the same way twice. For example, he painted a picture of Lance Armstrong by dripping paint on tricycle tires and riding over the canvas.
This is the link to his blog. This is the link to his website. Check it out if you've got a chance. Also, for his next project he is collecting secrets from people, and he's going to use them in his art. He's done something similar, by using life changing moments to make a piece once. You've got until 6/5 to submit a secret!

Unpredictable.
[NINE] If you could go back in time and change something, would you?
i dont think so i believe everything happens for a reason
[ELEVEN] how old are you?
17
[TWELVE] Ever had a near death experience?
unfortnately
As of 5/31/08, heaven is a brighter fuller place, just 1 day after Crystal filled out this survey on Myspace.
Crystal was in a fatal car accident Saturday night. She will be missed, and it's still hard to believe.
