Etch a Sketch Thursday: Week 7

Alright, so this image isn't quite as finished off as I would have liked, but hey, I had to do it last week considering I'm at soulfest right now. It's not as realistic as it could be, I did it with pastels (only my second try, and my first one was a horrible disaster.) I would like to put a background color in it also (notice that I haven't signed it yet, so it isn't completely finished.) Oh, and just in case you have no idea what this is a picture of but are too nice to ask me, you can see the original here.

Etch a Sketch Thursday: Week 6

It looks better in person... The eyes are way off, and his nose looks funky. I like his eyebrows, and his hair though!

[[7/25 UPDATE: I changed the picture on here, as I edited the sketch a little around the eyes because I couldn't stand it anymore. It's a little better now.]]

This is post #100. Yay!! To commemorate I have created an online photo album with 100 pictures of Matt and I, the good, the bad and the ugly. Some were pictures with more people that I have cropped, as I don't have 100 singles of Matt and I.

Here's the link: http://mattandlaura100.fotopic.net/

Happy Post 100 to ME, and Happy Post 300 to Allie, which is coming right up!

Busy Busy Busy

It's school time again! And with Soulfest coming up, it's even busier. I know I have enough time, but I'm getting into that habit of writing everything I need to do down over and over again so I won't forget. On the plus side, I'm totally excited for Soulfest, and I know Matt is too.

As for this past weekend, we were out all the time! I got there late Saturday night, but Sunday afternoon right after church we went out geocaching. We found like 6 that day, and that was basically the only thing we did all day (besides me make this totally amazing supper when Matt said we didn't have any food). I normally don't brag about my cooking, but I really liked this meal. Oh, and we watched the Notebook again that night. I'm totally happy that I got to see a chick flick for once after a long string of action movies. Monday morning, we went to Watercountry! Yay! I'm still exhausted now, and I've got a test in three and a half hours, but hey. It was fun, and I have tomorrow off to be productive and get everything ready for Soulfest.

Part 3 of this 3 part project is finished; Jordan. I must say, this one was the hardest of all of them, and I'm not completely satisfied (what else is new). Her eyes are too close together, and I think it makes her look somewhat cross-eyed. Also, the way I finished the bottom in a circle is almost "too neat" compared to the other two. There's something else about it that bothers me, but I can't put my finger on it.

P.S. I have a new site which has all of my sketches on it (that I'm willing to share, I've left out some of the not so nice ones). The URL is www.laura.fotoblog.co.uk. There is a password, for the privacy of the peoples pictures whom I have drawn. As it is, I will start removing my cousins pictures in a couple of weeks. E-mail me for the password if you would like it!

What I Love About...

Matt!

Here's a list of some of the things I love about Matt. Maybe I'll convince him to do a post about me ; )

*He's emotionally strong when I'm not
*He tries (but usually fails) to make me laugh/feel better when I'm upset
*If I go to buy something he acts macho and buys it for me
*He gives really good hugs :)
*The way kids respond to him
*How he drops everything (including talking to me) to help his mom & sister carry groceries inside
*How he gets all worried and needs to be with his family if there's a semi-emergency
*He puts how I feel first even if it's something he really wants
*"Do what you need to do. I'll wait."
*He's so very selfless

I'm going to link to this in the "Important Posts" section, and then just let you all know whenever I update it.

Yeah, that's right. He's mine ; )

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAILEY!!!

I almost forgot...
HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY HAILEY!

P.S. Go here for a real live "Notebook" story!

"Girls" Weekend!

Alright, I must admit... I have always wanted my friends to come visit me for once instead of me driving to see all of them, so Karen, Meesh, and Matt all came to my house this weekend, along with Chelsea! We had a great time. We must have spent 50% of the time in the pool, but we also watched Michael J. Foxx movies, explored Augusta, and pretended to be Matt's groupies ; ).... I didn't take any pictures though! I know, I'm a bad person! We're already planning another adventure in August sometime maybe!

School is back in session full swing! I thought it would be easier in the summer than when I take another full course load in the fall because I'm only taking 3 this summer, but because it's 3 classes in half the time it's about the same. Stress time is back! Haha, I love being a student though. I think.

Well, it's late and I'm tired, but this blog needed updating!! Maybe I will post more weekend stories later on! : )

So here's the second part of a three part series: my cousin Kate. I like the way she came out over all, but she doesn't look as happy as she does in the original picture, her hair was very difficult because it was messy in the picture, and there's something I can't pinpoint in her right (my right) eye. Also, the texture of the drawing is different from Joe, and since they will probably be displayed together that sort of disappoints me, although I like the texture of this one better.

I'm open to any comments/suggestions on any of my sketches. My parents are always "ooh-ing" and "ahh-ing" them, but my mom thinks I should be a doctor and my dad seems to think I know everything... Basically, they're biased.

Fireworks and "Dateiversary"

Matt did something that caused motion when I was taking the picture

OK, so I know it's been a few days since Independence Day, but I had some fireworks pictures that I wanted to post and I couldn't upload them until I got home.

We went to Wolfeboro on the 4th, and the fireworks were pretty slow, but great for taking pictures! Unfortunately, both Tim and Amanda AND PA and Patty's car had issues. Tim and Amanda had a flat, and PA and Patty's car overheated. Last year the car broke down too, so no one wants to go to Wolfeboro again! The next night, Matt and I were at the Foxrun mall and got a call asking if we wanted to go to the Portsmouth fireworks! Those fireworks were amazing! All the pictures you see were from the 4th, but on the 5th I took a video which would probably take up too much space to post.

For our 2yr "Dateiversary" which we celebrated on the 6th because I was leaving on the 7th, we did absolutely nothing, mostly because we're broke. We go out to eat a lot, we go to the beach a lot, we go to watercountry a lot, we go out shopping a lot... Nothing seemed like it would be special, so instead we stayed in! We got some goods at the grocery store and I made three cheese pizza, monkey bread, and zeppolis(which are like fried dough balls or donut holes). We did go to the Kittery outlets on the 7th though, just for fun. Uh, Yeah. That's about it.

I'll post again soon!! [[Thursday's coming up]]

Etch a Sketch Thursday: Week 3

I did it! I actually drew a picture when I didn't feel like drawing (it's 9:05pm and I just got it done and scanned)

This picture didn't even come out too bad considering my lack of desire to draw when I started yesterday. He's pretty accurate, but the shading is very contrast-y compared to the picture, which was kinda muddy in some places. It's my 2nd cousin, Joe. I was going to draw my cousins children for my aunt (their grandmother) for Christmas last year (which we celebrated at Thanksgiving because she lives in New Jersey) and am just now doing it because I have had a lack of desire to draw. I didn't start right with the cousins because I wanted them to come out good, and I was a little scared because my last attempt didn't come out so hot.

Blogging Survey

A) Why do you blog?

I believe I covered this in the post Why We Blog.

B) What is your favorite part about blogging?

I like it because it's sort of like a diary, and It's a way to keep in touch with others that I can't see everyday.

C) What is your least favorite part about blogging?

Not knowing exactly who reads it.

D) What are your favorite blogs to read and why?

I like to read any blogs that are updated often, such as Your Daily Dose of Vitamin [A]llie, any posts which have something to do with something I'm interested in such as PsD, Pixeloo, and Phil in the Circle. Also, I love reading posts about people I know even if they aren't updated too often, which is just about every blog on my link page (although I will add all the blogs listed above to my link list shortly).

P.S. I still havent finished my weekly drawing, but I will hopefully finish, scan, and post it by tonight. I've got the tough part done (starting).
